Teachers Service Commission manages a workforce of over 330,000 teachers. As part of Public Financial Magement Reforms, TSC has resulted to Undertaking the exercise of validating its teachers’ data that is used in decision-making. The Commission is planning to undertake a Biometric Registration of Teachers (BRT) nationally. This National exercise commenced on 5th March 2020 with the convening of a Stakeholder’s Conference that received massive positive support from the public and all stakeholders.
The BRT system has been developed and tested by the technical team. Further, the technical team has since developed the BRT Training, Technical, User Manuals and the ore-requisite budget for the BRT pilot exercise. These manuals and BRT system requires approval by the management. In addition, and for compliance purposes, the Commission is required to undertake the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) in conformity to Section 31 of the Data Protection Act. 2019 before commencement of the BRT pilot exercise.
